Martha’s Vineyard sits perfectly perched on the well-drained soils of the western bench of the Oakville appellation receiving only a light trickle of sun in the morning, and none in the evening. This aspect and terroir provides a long cool growing season that helps the vineyard produce wines of incredible flavor complexity and fresh vibrant structure.

The 2014 Vintage is remembered by a dry and cool growing season. Our fruit expressed complexity early on in the season which helped capture the essence of the Heitz style of winemaking. Harvest produced an outstanding amount of well-balanced fruit that boasted a superb depth of flavor in our wines that shine through now and will continue to develop for decades to come.

The Palate expresses a perfect balance of flavor and texture. The structure speaks to a wine that could age for a century, but with the polished tannins and freshness of a wine that could be enjoyed today. It is a wine full of balance and unique, almost mysterious qualities, Martha’s Vineyard is a true Napa Valley icon. This vintage confirms that testament.
